Why Altitude Comedy Festival This Christmas?
What if I told you that we all misunderstood the lyrics to Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer?
Think about it: people poking fun at each other, red noses and hurtling through the snow on a sled? Seems to me that Santa and his mates checked into the award-winning Mayrhofen alpine resort for the world famous Altitude Comedy Festival and when they weren’t gorging themselves on goulash and fondue or careening down the off-piste they were letting rip at old ruddy-nosed Rudolph who‘d had one too many schnapps!
And what’s all the “Ho, Ho, Ho-ing!” about? You wouldn't be laughing hysterically if you were doing a glorified paper round on Christmas Eve when everyone else has knocked-off for the festive season. And you certainly don’t get to be that kind of round unless large beers and even larger steaks are involved. Ok, point made!
Forget Reruns of The Sound of Music and Cold Turkey Sandwiches.
Unlike a standard comedy gig in a huge theatre, you won’t miss a single punchline in Altitude’s intimate festival venues. Plus you’ll see the world-renowned acts getting around town themselves, indulging in Mayrhofen just as much as the rest of you. Well, you can’t expect them to head home with 625km’s of pure powdery pistes, a night club made of ice and a fire festival on the bill!
Imagine the chair lift banter with Eddie Izzard, or sharing a cheeky Jagermeister with Jimmy Carr as Bill Bailey and Tim Minchin simultaneously bewilder and bemuse everyone in their path!
