Why support the 2018 Invictus Games?
If you’ve not heard of the Invictus Games before, you’re in for a treat as the bravest soldiers from allied nations take part in 12 adaptive sports.
In May 2016, everyone’s favourite ginger serviceman, Prince Harry announced that Toronto, Canada would host the 2018 Invictus Games and will see more than 550 ill, injured and wounded servicemen and women from 17 allied nations compete in 12 adaptive sports.
And this is your chance to cheer each and every one of them on in a carnival atmosphere - from the opening ceremony through golf, archery, athletics, indoor rowing, powerlifting, cycling, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, tennis and rugby and the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge - right up to the closing ceremony.
The Invictus Games are about much more than just sport.
The competitors are the mothers, fathers, husbands and wives who have come face-to-face with the reality of making a sacrifice for their country. By putting their lives on the line they have suffered life-changing injuries and this is your chance to show them how much that means to you.
As well as capturing hearts, The Invictus Games challenges opinion and uses the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding. The games change lives - yours as well as the athletes!
The opening ceremony is a live two-hour event which will boast Celebrities, world dignitaries, headline music stars and special guests including Sarah McLachlan, The Tenors, La Bottine Souriante and Alessia Cara. With a cast of hundreds, including the pomp and pageantry of the Canadian Armed Forces bands and the Parade of Nations, we promise it will be an extravaganza not to be missed!
