Join La Batalla de Vino for the Ultimate Wine Fight!
Those passionate Spanish folk have exactly two ways to celebrate - drinking wine and throwing things at each other! So why not incorporate these two fun-packed Spanish pastimes at La Batalla de Vino?
Just like my ex-wife, these fun-loving folk just LOVE to get drunk and throw stuff… (Thankfully, UNLIKE my ex, they don't cut up my credit cards and shred my favourite undershorts).
AND they LOVE to have FUN. More fun than you can throw a pint of pinotage at.
From squished fruit at La Tomatina to flowers at Las Fallas, flour at Alicante’s April Fools' Day, ants in Galicia and oil in Guadix, these guys will chuck anything they can lay their hands on... and now it’s your opportunity to let your hair down and join the fun you’ve been missing out on for years!
What makes La Batalla de Vino one of the craziest food fights in the world?
Every summer, during the Haro Wine Festival, thousands of white-clad pilgrims descend upon the famous wine-producing Rioja region to climb up a mountain on an annual pilgrimage. But these worshippers are not there for the normal sort of religious reasons, these hedonistic party-goers are there for San Vino Wine Fight. And if you join them this June, you might go up the mountain wearing white, but you’ll come down wearing grape purple, drunk as a skunk, sun-kissed, laughing and, well... high on life!
La Batalla Del Vino De Haro festival truly is considered one of the world's craziest food fights and rivals all other Spanish festivals*... Which is why we believe it needs to feature high up on both your wine list AND bucket list!
*(Rivals all other Spanish festivals except for maybe The Battle of the Dead Rat, in the Valencian town of El Puig… no, really! Urrgh!)
