Why do we love Phinda Rock Lodge?
Is it the terracotta-red romantic suites carved into a cliff, plunge pool and viewing decks with views over awe-inspiring panoramic views of Leopard Rock? Is it the fiery South African sunsets that set Zululand alive with orange light? Well, yes, yes, These are some of the reasons we love Phinda Rock Lodge... But there's so many more!
As you fly in to land on Phinda's very own private airstrip, you’ll notice that the Lodge hangs dramatically from a steep rocky cliffside. The suites resemble caves but they all feature luxury bedrooms, cosy dining rooms, ensuite bathrooms with deep bathtubs, al fresco showers and rooftop terraces for dining beneath the stars. Perfect for old romantics like you and me… and your very own butler!
Observe and conserve the reserve!
Set deep within KwaZulu-Natal National Park, the lodge isn’t just the ideal peaceful honeymoon getaway. Climb a rustic ladder to the roof and you’ll find a magical vantage point to observe the reserve’s abundant wildlife roaming the bush and gathering each morning and evening at a Lion King-esque watering hole below.
By day, you can venture out on day game drives to see lions, cheetahs and even black and white rhino which Phinda’s conversation programme has helped save from extinction. There are also walking safaris, Zulu village tours, Maputaland Beach adventures, night turtle drives, ocean safaris, scuba diving and you can even track black rhino on foot and take part in helping them survive The Circle of Life.
When the African night finally draws in, you and your loved one can make new friends around a roaring fire, head on a night safari or treat yourselves to relaxing massages and a cheeky cocktail in your torchlit boutique room....
