Grab more than a burrito at Relais and Chateaux Gourmet Fest
If you thought the cuisine of California was all breakfast burritos, hot dogs and chain-restaurants, you’d… only be partially correct. However, when the Relais and Chateaux Gourmet Fest hits the coast this spring, California will become the undisputed culinary capital of America.
Now in its sixth year, this four-day foodie extravaganza brings together some of the finest chefs the luxury hotel chain has in its roster, as well as a throng of passionate foodies.
And you could be one of them.
And why wouldn't you, when it takes place in the storybook city of Carmel-by-the-Sea, which offers culture, history and jaw-dropping scenery in abundance (by the way, that was Carmel, not caramel… there’s foodie, then there’s obsessed…).
What’s the big fuss about?
This isn’t just a random gathering of foodies and feasts – this is the hottest food festival in town (well… it’s the only food festival in town… but you get the idea).
Over the extended weekend there are twenty different events to get your teeth stuck into, comprising – among others – wine tastings, cooking demos, gourmet BBQs, lunches and indulgent dinners.
You’ll also find several walking tours, such as the wild mushroom hunt, which is followed by lunch, of course. Ok, it's a walk that probably won’t burn off even a small portion of the calories you are bound to consume over the weekend… but at least it will work up a good appetite for your next meal!
