Why Skydive Over The Great Barrier Reef?
When you picture Australia’s Great Barrier Reef perhaps catamarans and scuba come to mind, which is fine, they’re de rigueur on a tropical north Queensland adventure. The Skydive Cairns crew, on the other hand, believe a natural wonder of Great Barrier Reef calibre deserves a little more effort to gain unrivalled Instagram stories …
How does leaping out of a plane at 15,000 feet utterly wired with adrenaline grab you?
It’s legit GoPro territory for one thing. Or you could visit the reef and just bob around searching for Nemo. Imagine editing the Great Barrier Reef chapter of your trip: an epic, cinematic Point Break-esque skydive with a suitably epic, cinematic soundtrack. Or, footage of your worryingly sunburnt body flinching in terror of sharks at every shadow on the reef! Choose well because you only get one Bucket List.
A Classic Bucket List Experience.
As any sane individual knows, it pays to do your research when considering jumping out a plane. 220km/hr free falls should be taken very seriously, not least because your tandem instructor would also like to make it to sea level in textbook fashion.
Although you’ll be plummeting south at breakneck speeds (not literally of course- see above, safety is paramount) you’ve got 15,000 feet to take it all in and with this being Australia, there’s a vast expanse of nature on display. The largest coral reef system on the planet for a start, flanked by World Heritage rainforests, rounded off by a drones-eye view of sunburnt backpackers snorkelling off the party boat.
